CommUNITY Educator

Campus:
IU Bloomington
Hometown:
Jasonville, IN

Why did you become a CUE?
I struggled a lot during my freshman year. I was questioning my identities and learning things that challenged the norms I grew up with, both of which threw me out of my comfort zone. Being a resource for freshmen who may also be exploring their identities is something that I am passionate about.

Why do you think this position is important for the IU community?
College is a time where most students are away from home for the first time, away from their family and hometown, away from their comfort zones, which can be a scary and uncertain experience. And oftentimes, this is also a time where students start questioning their identities and the social norms they grew up with. The CUE program is a wonderful resource for students to explore these identities and learn more not just about themselves, but with society as a whole.
